Austrian Police Arrest Passenger for Disturbance on Delta Flight, Deny Reports He Set Curtain on Fire

VIENNA, Austria – Austrian authorities say a passenger from Slovakia has been arrested at Vienna’s international airport after he caused a disturbance aboard a Delta jetliner, but dispute reports that he set a curtain on the plane on fire.

Officials say U.S. sky marshals overpowered the unidentified man during a Delta Air Lines flight to the Austrian capital.

It was not immediately clear where the Atlanta-based airline’s flight originated.

Police at Vienna’s Schwechat International Airport denied reports that the man tried to set a curtain on the jetliner on fire.

They said in a statement that he did not attempt a hijacking, but was unruly and taken into custody on board the airliner as a security precaution. Officials said Friday the suspect was arrested after the plane landed Thursday.
